A project’s Comments tab is where everything reviewers wrote arrives: from the widget on your dev server, from previews built with the project’s secret, and from people on a review link. It is the tab a project opens on, and its count is the number of open comments.
Read what came in
The newest comments are at the top. Each row says who wrote it and when, the branch it was written on, the component and source line it points at, and the page it is on. A row also counts its replies, and says picture when the comment has a screenshot.
Narrow the list
Open, Resolved and All switch between statuses, each with its count. Search looks through comments and replies. The page field keeps one route, like
/pricing. Once comments come from more than one branch, a Branch menu keeps one branch’s comments.Answer and resolve
Click a comment to open it in the drawer. Write in Reply… and send with Reply, or ⌘ Enter (Ctrl Enter on Windows and Linux). Resolve moves it out of the Open list; on a resolved comment the same button says Reopen.
Live updates
The list follows the project while you have it open. A comment, a reply or a status change made anywhere, on the page, by your agent or in another tab, shows up without a reload. During a text search the list does not change under you: it says New activity on this project and offers Refresh the search.
If the connection keeps failing, a banner says live updates are paused. Reload brings them back.
The list loads a page of comments at a time. Load more, under the last one, brings the next.
The drawer
The drawer has everything about one comment:
- Anchored to: the screenshot of the element as the reviewer saw it (click it for full size), the component that rendered it, its source file and line, the page and the branch. On a site that uses the script tag, the drawer describes the element instead and says no file was recorded.
- See it on the page opens the page the comment was left on, with the comment showing. The host is written under the link. If that address is not one of the project’s review-link previews, the drawer says so: check where it goes before you sign in to anything there.
- Reported by workflows: what a workflow’s receiver, like an agent, said it did with the comment. It never changes the comment’s status. See Workflows.
- The replies, under the comment.
The icons in the drawer’s header open the comment on the page and copy a link to it. The drawer is in the address, so the link opens the dashboard on this comment. Opening a comment also marks its notifications as read, its replies’ included.
Who can resolve
Owners and admins can resolve any comment. Anyone else can resolve the comments they wrote; on other comments the drawer says only the author or an owner can resolve it. Anyone on the project can reply.
Editing a comment’s words is not done here: it stays on the page, next to the element it is about. See Commenting on a page.
